Dexter Rural Fire Protection District depends on dedicated volunteers and resident firefighters to help us provide 24/7 fire, EMS, and rescue services. Whether you're pursuing a career in emergency services or simply want to give back, we have a place for you.
What Our Volunteers Do
- Respond to fire and medical emergencies
- Provide EMS care (based on certification level)
- Attend weekly training and drills
- Support community outreach and fire prevention
- Maintain equipment, vehicles, and the station
No experience is required — we provide all training, gear, and mentorship.
Types of Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer Firefighter / EMT
Train with our crew and respond to fire, EMS, and rescue calls as part of our emergency response team.
Resident Firefighter Program
Live at the fire station and gain hands-on experience while attending school or working. Residents cover shifts, respond to calls, and train as part of our daily operations.
